A pleasure today, tomorrow, forever.
Worked in cross stitch which creates thick square pieces of needlework with no distortion in shape - this makes it unecessary to use a frame when working, unless you prefer to do so.
The pattern looks very distinctive when worked with this stitch because each cross makes a complete square rather than half of one as with half cross stitch or tent stitch. This particular form of cross stitch was found originally on many Victorian pieces of Berlin woolwork; it creates work that is both tough and hardwearing and so many of the pieces made with it have lasted well over 100 years with very little sign of wear.
